My approach is integrative as I draw from a number of therapeutic approaches in my practice. However, my understanding of life and development is mainly rooted in psychodynamic and humanistic theory.
In other words, I believe that our early relationships and experiences strongly shape how we go on to deal with our later life and relationships. Understanding our history helps us to work through difficulties in our present lives.
I also believe in the potential in all of us, whatever our histories, for healthy development and growth, once we have the right conditions to support that growth. The experience of a supportive and respectfully challenging therapeutic relationship can be hugely beneficial in allowing movement into a freer, more rewarding life.
Over the years, clients have worked on various concerns with me, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, histories of trauma or abuse, and self-esteem/identity issues. Please feel free to contact me to discuss the possibility of working together.
